This recipe was sent to us from our friends at Hip Veggies. They are celebrating all the scrumptious recipes with Beets this month and found an one of a kind martini recipe using beets. We could not pass up the chance at making a beet cocktail since it ties in so well with our distillery, at The Historic Sugar Beet Factory.
Do not be deceived by this fuschia colored drink, it is not for sissies! I recommend it for someone who likes dirty martini’s.
First, lets gather the ingredients, because this may take a little bit of research.
This recipe makes 1 cocktail
2 oz of vodka
1/2 oz Yuzu
1 oz watermelon beet juice (3/4 watermelon to 1/4 beet)
3/4 oz simple syrup (2:1 ratio water to sugar)
Yuzu is an asian fruit, like a lemon/grapefruit. You can purchase the juice from The Rice House and LeeLees Market. We think it would really help to have a juicer for this recipe. if you do not have one, like we did not, you can work around it.
First, gather all your materials.
Martini Shaker–Melon Baller–Bowl–Potato Masher–Glasses for Juice–Martini Glasses–Garnish Spears
Scoop out the insides of half of one small seedless watermelon. Put insides into a separate bowl
Mash watermelon until juice comes out. Then drain juice into a glass. Only do this if you don’t have a juicer!
Mix in beet juice. There should be 3x’s as much watermelon juice as there is beet juice.
Now add all ingredients into the shaker with ice and shake it for 30 seconds.
Don’t forget to garnish your Fuschia Sunset Martini with a melon ball on a skewer!
Cheers! Let us know what drinks your making and share it with us on our facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ArroyoSpirits
